HEBGEN LAKE: TIME TO ICE FISH

Hebgen Lake has been a tradition for my wife, Sandy, and I for the last four years and has ALWAYS been reliable producing some great rainbow and brown trout every time we go. It is a very important piece of water as its just downstream of Yellowstone Park headwaters formed by the Gibbon and Firehole Rivers; it’s also a dammed section of the Madison River.

We usually fish this location later in the season and make a day of it as we load up our three labs the day before and spend the night in our Sprinter van, heading out on the ice later in the morning after things warm up a bit. We usually make a big deal of the day by bringing a firepit with us - it’s nice to cut the chill and nothing like the sound of a crackling fire and the smell of a woodsmoke. Catching fish is just a bonus to a day outdoors with the family!

When it comes to ice fishing, there isn't another boot out there better suited than the Arctic Ice. From the comfortable footbed to the warmth even in the most frigid temperatures, these boots excel. Ice fishing is always going to be a somewhat wet experience, as we are cutting dozens of holes, throwing ice and water all over, and these boots keep us super dry. NO. MATTER. WHAT!
